In countless conversations with a wide variety of people about the threateningly growing damage to nature, the question “What can I do as an individual?” came up again and again, and the demand: “Politics, the economy or all people must do more to achieve effective improvements!”
This releases you back into normality, the development of which is perceived as increasingly threatening.
The dilemma of responsibility
Challenge
please insert: “Image Lifestyle”
Everyone contributes to interventions in nature with their lifestyle, consumption and savings. With every money flow, everyone influences someone (usually companies) to do something. The binding of a sustainable demand to the flow of money is a democratic right to vote, which is the responsibility of everyone. Everybody decides with every money payment what the recipient of the money should do with it: manage in a nature-damaging or nature-friendly way?
The realities of our lives are complex and heterogeneous. The growing global gap between rich and poor does not allow everyone to freely choose their consumption. The supply of nature-friendly products is increasing only slowly, and the knowledge required for conscious consumption and saving, and thus for an individually valuable lifestyle, is often too limited to be able to deal responsibly with the complex, interdisciplinary knowledge relationships of the most diverse products.
The threateningly growing damage to nature makes sustainability existentially necessary. Knowledge is the prerequisite for sustainability. It is not about doing without, it is not about hoping for technical solutions and it is not about schoolmastery. Often it is “only” changes in our normality that bring great improvements for nature and for ourselves.
Sustainability starts with knowing how things are connected. – Let’s take a look.
Solution
The BioDesign Foundation offers didactically structured a global knowledge platform on the problems of nature and the relevant, systemic solutions that everyone can contribute. The causally necessary knowledge is given as a functioning offer for a responsible lifestyle towards oneself, society and nature.
The knowledge transfer is not dominant, but sensitizes scientifically evident and offers many incentives to pay attention to nature and oneself. Everyone can set out to reflect normalities and find their own style.
What will we change if we no longer like what is normal? What products will we make our companions if they are to be valuable, durable, healthy and beautiful? What potential do we have to protect nature while living more beautifully and healthily? How do we inspire more people to make improvements?
Sustainability is the new cool!
Action
Joint nature conservation in the regions
The BioDesign Foundation is supported by Ambassadors worldwide. Ambassadors represent the BioDesign Foundation in various regions and subject areas. They contribute to the transfer of knowledge and, together with the Custodians and cooperation partners, carry out projects and actions to achieve the goals of the BioDesign Foundation.
All projects and actions always pursue the common goal of achieving maximum impact for nature conservation through sustainable management and a valuable lifestyle in an exemplary and high-profile manner. In doing so, ambassadors raise awareness of the key sustainability potentials and disseminate knowledge for participation.
The projects and actions are geared to the regionally relevant nature problems in order to achieve the greatest possible exemplary leverage effect here for nature and in the public perception that is effective for nature conservation. We make the nature problems, their interactions, solutions and project/action implementations public in www.thecustodians.org.
Think tank and community for strong nature conservation
Custodians
“Who still claims that improvements can’t happen in our normalcy?”
Rebels for systemic conservation
Custodians are not satisfied with the collateral damage of conventional management. The normalcy of ignorance must end in order to restore more space for nature.
Custodians know how to open our normalcy to nature-friendly management and a valuable lifestyle. Their knowledge and example instigates more people to join in.
Custodians bring the essential, systemic solutions for conservation into our social system and to people, into their everyday lives. The more people join, the stronger conservation becomes – democratically, economically and avant-garde!

Custodians are supporters and activists on the ground, who work for nature conservation in projects and actions with sense and understanding. They are the people who courageously take part in the fight for nature, stand up for the revival and preservation of nature in the community of the BioDesign Foundation and further develop and communicate the knowledge in this regard. It takes bright minds and courageous actions to set a great example!
Custodians make nature problems public and find solutions together. Their work is constructive:
1. Challenge: We understand nature problems as a necessary challenge.
2. Solution: we develop systemic solutions to revitalize and preserve nature.
3. Action: We stand up for efficient solutions to problems.
